Fritz Haag, Mosel (Germany) Riesling Trocken 2017

Aug 20, 2024

By Vince Simmon

Located in the heart of Mosel, Fritz Haag has been making wine for over four centuries. The Brauneberg Juffer Sonnenuhr vineyard even claims to have received recognition from Napoleon.  Today, Oliver and Jessic Haag continue to produce top quality wines from the prestigious Mosel region.  This single-vineyard Trocken drinks like a dry wine and, thanks to a modest amount of residual sugar, it doesn’t come across as the acid bomb one might expect from a dry Mosel Riesling.  The wine is deliciously complex with honey, apricot, white peach, lime meringue, slate, and petroleum notes.  While absolutely stunning today, this wine has plenty of room for further development for those patient enough to cellar it.
