Oregon Chardonnay generally tend to be more restrained as well as less rich and flamboyant compared to those from California. Nicolas-Jay’s “Affinités” fits that pattern. Weighing in at 13-percent stated alcohol, it’s a refined wine, not boisterous, yet showing plenty of character. Bracing acidity amplifies its subtle apple and pear-like notes. Its cutting and cleansing profile makes it a delight to drink now.
