Kriselle Cellars, Rogue Valley (Oregon) “Suelo Rocoso” 2020 ($32)

“Suelo Rocoso” translates into rocky soils and the name emphasizes that both varieties are grown on the rocky soils of the estate vineyard. This blend consists of 52% Grenache and 48% Tempranillo and was aged 23 months in French and American Oak (25% new). Now with two years of bottle aging, the wine fuses the best of each variety. It begins with effusive black cherry and plum aromatics and continues with similar flavors. The palate is rich and round, yet there are some intriguing notes of dried figs and some integrated tannins for structure and balance. It simply glides along the palate and ends on a lengthy note. 141 cases made.
