Alberto Orte is regarded as one of Spain’s most skilled vintners, and his 2019 Tintilla “Atlántida” is a testament to his talent. The wine opens with a subtle, refined nose featuring delicate notes of violets, spices, and red and black berries, along with a hint of smokiness. On the palate, it’s ripe and chalky, unveiling layers of complexity and depth. Made from 100 percent Tintilla de Rota—a native grape of Andalucía that shares its DNA with Graciano—this variety had nearly dwindled away in recent years, due to its low yields.
