The best Cabernets seem to fall into one of two categories – smooth, fresh fruit with good structure and tannins, or dried fruit with a lean, muscular structure and a complex savory finish. This one falls into the latter category, lean but not spare, tannic without being harsh, with an amazing amount of complexity in the finish – dried herbs, dried fruits, walnuts, barrel flavors. Hobbs continues to add luster to the new but old Coombsville AVA.
