Sémillon is commonly used as a blending grape – considered to be a natural blending partner to Sauvignon Blanc in some regions – but New World winemakers have been exploring it as a solo variety. The Zuccardi family’s Vinos de Pueblo Polígonos line – literally, Wine of the People Polygons – is all about making wine that represents the multi-faceted people that impact winemaking in s specific region. Their Poligonos Semillón is bright with floral, tropical, and stone fruit notes playfully mixing together for a really nice flavor experience. Australia has proven that Semillón is a cellar-worthy white and, while this wine is still young and vibrant now, it will be twice as interesting with nuanced complexity in 10 years.
