The Columbia Valley AVA is Washington State’s largest wine growing region. It is located in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, and has sandy soils, which makes it inhospitable to phylloxera, the root louse that nearly decimated the vineyards of Europe. The Sauvignon grapes for 2023 were sourced from three vineyards in the Columbia Valley: Bacchus in the Columbia Valley AVA, Bouchey in the Yakima AVA, and Laura Lee Vineyard from the Royal Slope AVA. It is a crisp, lively wine with flavors of Meyer lemon and white peach and mouthwatering acidity, perfect for a winter salad.
