 Critics Gold 2005 Amante, Special Selection South Coast $39.95 A good brickish color, aromas of iron, brown sugar, dried blood. It has an aged quality, and flavors are muted – this is not a fruit bomb, but rather a quiet and savory wine with an angular structure, fine tannins, modest sweetness. It feels like a fine aged Chianti.  – Patrick Comiskey
 Critics Platinum 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Estate Temecula Valley $18.95 Crackling acidity gives this wine al almost spiritzy mouthfeel. Full-flavored, and assertive in a positive way, with fresh green herbs, gooseberry and passionfruit leading the way. It’s a mouthful of deep, lively, expressive fruit, with a rapier acidic finish.  Critics Silver 2006  Syrah, 33 Degrees North, Gracie Hill Estate Vineyard South Coast $30.00 Firm plummy nose. Supple, juicy, not a super-concentated style, but reasonably fresh.  Lightweight for Syrah but well balanced.   – Stephen Brook
 Critics Silver 2007 Chardonnay, Sleepy Hollow Vineyard Monterey $25.00 Sweet, with a vanilla quality that enhances the sweet, tropical fruit.  – Paul Lukacs
 Critics Platinum 2008 Sauvignon Blanc, Reserve Monterey $16.00 Attractive lime nose. Rich and ripe, succulent, plenty of fruit here, and enough citric acidity to give it zest and length. Tangy and refreshing, and a bracing dry finish.  – Stephen Brook

 Critics Gold 2002 Reserva Rioja $21.49 Notes of dried and stewed cherries form the core of this wine’s aromas and flavors, along with very appealing accents of saddle leather and vanilla.  The fine-grained tannins are well tuned to the weight of the fruit, offering some firming but no drying in the wine’s finish. – Michael Franz

 Critics Silver 2007 Shiraz California $17.99 Flamboyantly fruity, with ripe black cherry and wild berry flavors, with hints of cola. There is tons of mouthfilling flavor here, with complexity coming from black olive and leafy herb notes.   – Linda Murphy
 Critics Silver 2007 Chardonnay California $17.99 Simple, clean, straightforward in its rewarding pear and apple flavors. Significant residual sugar gives the wine good mouthfeel, though the sugar is a bit too much for a higher score.  – Linda Murphy

 Critics Silver 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Bon Vivant, Destiny Vineyard Paso Robles $38.00 Not as ‘look at me’ flashy as many cabs, this one is perfectly proportioned in its fruit volume, oaking, tannins and acid.
