This offers nice, fruity, pungent aromas rise from the lightly colored wine in the glass, and the texture of the wine on the palate is very smooth and satiny. The taste is pure fruitiness, at least initially, highlighted by red currants. As the wine progresses, however, there is a one-two impact of savory tannins channeling the finish followed by the onset of 16% alcohol, though the wine is neither hot nor volatile. And for a wine made with raisiny grapes, this Amarone’s finish is less raisiny in character than a profile marked by pure, ripe fruitiness.
