Campbell Ranch, located in California’s Sonoma Coast, sits about 750 feet above sea level which puts it just above the marine layer. Their 20+ year old vines enjoy the cool ocean breeze which naturally helps them retain their acidity and ripen longer into the season, providing excellent flavor depth and complexity. This is the second vintage I have enjoyed and both stand out for their dominating minerality, specifically notes of graphite. Along with this Pinot Noir’s minerality and excellent acidity, the wine is nicely complex with tart cranberry, black fruit, and a touch of underbrush. This is a delicious Pinot Noir, suitable for further aging, but drinking excellently now.
