Marlborough, a district on the north end of New Zealand’s South Island, is synonymous with Sauvignon Blanc. That variety is, by far, the most planted grape in the nation. The Babich Black Label Sauvignon Blanc is a delicious example of Marlborough’s distinctive style. The grapes for this bottling were harvested from several estate vineyards within the appellation. Fermented with selected yeast strains, the 2023 Babich Black Label Sauvignon shows a wonderful combination of aromas. Peach, pink grapefruit and guava fruit scents are followed by hints of lily and fresh herbs. The flavors of mouthwatering citrus, peach and tropical fruits are backed by subtle floral and herbal hints. The wine is refreshing, layered and lively. It would be a fine match for most any seafood or poultry dish.
