With their N’Antia, Badia di Morrona shows how well Bordeaux varieties do in Tuscany outside of Bolgheri. With VignaAlta, they show that Sangiovese reigns supreme in Tuscany. Racy and elegant, the youthful 2019 VignaAlta is show stopping. Sure, red and dark cherries, the signature of Tuscan Sangiovese, are evident but more emerges as the wine sits in the glass. A touch of earth, an appealing hint of bitterness shine. Not an opulent or heavy wine, the sleek 2019 VignaAlta impresses with its graceful presence. Fine tannins hold everything together. Its balance suggests this young wine has a great future. If drinking it now, decanter, wait, and Do. Not. Rush. It will explode in the glass given time.
