Birgit Eichinger is an up-and-coming producer of Grüner Veltliners from the Kamptal.  Her 2016 Strass bottling is drawn from a variety of soils in the village — from loess to sandstone to granite-based. It is juicy and fresh, just bursting with aromas of lemon, lime and green apple fruits enhanced by the defining herb and spice elements of the Grüner Veltliner grape.  The classic fresh green bean and white pepper tones add a unique appeal and complexity to the juicy fruit.  The flavors are well-textured but still clean and bright, all making for a pleasing and refreshing white wine.  Grüner Veltliner pairs especially well with vegetable recipes, and would be a fine choice to serve with grilled zucchini or asparagus.
