Bodegas Adriá – Vega Montán, Bierzo (Castilla y León, Spain) Mencia 2009

 This is an exceptional over-achiever at this price level, and an excellent wine it its own right quite regardless of price.  Medium-bodied, it is fulled with delicious fruit notes recalling dark cherries, along with well-measured structure that is provided by fresh acidity and fine-grained tannin.  Fresh and light- to medium-bodied, it will prove very versatile at the table because it is so flavorful and able to punch above its weight.
