This is made in a bold, ripe, cassis-forward style that suits the tannins that the rugged slopes of Atlas Peak dish out. Notes of star anise and cedar spice join the black fruit, and the well-tamed tannins are supple, not intruding on the overall impression and showing power and refined character all at once. This will work beautifully from the table through the cheese course, or as a celebratory solo glass.
