My affection runs deep for Baja wines. I’ll keep writing about these wines until the region gets the viticultural admiration it deserves. An exceptional wine that shows the commitment to quality and experimentation in Baja is Bruma’s Ocho Blanc Noir de Carignan. The Ocho is a surprising still white from 100% Carignan Noir. The wine exudes lemon zest, melon, peaches, and subtle white flowers that compliment an irresistibly flavored and beautifully textured palate. While some American wine programs have been slow to embrace Baja wines, it merits noting that Bruma has found a home on the Michelin three-starred French Laundry wine list.
