Loosely translated, “buckaloose” means “break free” and this blend breaks free of the convention that Petite Sirah works best as either a stand-alone variety or as a small “hole filler” in other red wines. Here it takes a full 40% of the spotlight to Cabernet Sauvignon’s 60%, and its deep blue fruit and pepper markers play nicely with the Cabernet’s black and red fruit. Add in some dill and spice from a mix of American and French oak, and you’ve got a classy partner for grilled meats of all kinds.
