Cadaretta, Columbia Valley (Washington) Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

Oct 24, 2012

By Gerald D. Boyd

The grapes for this tight Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from numerous locations in eastern Washington including Walla Walla, Horse Heaven Hills and Wahluke Slope.  This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Merlot was aged for 19 months in French oak.  The color is very deep with inky-ruby hues, low intensity berry, smoked bacon and road tar in the aromatics and layered fruit, big tannins, balanced acidity, 14.9% alcohol and a very tight finish with a little heat.  Needs more time!
