This is a big boy that will need significant time to unwind, but it will do so in style. Winemaker Cary Gott has been through a few vintages in Napa Valley — okay, more than a few — and he clearly recognized the chance to make a long term ager with the 2021 fruit here. There is a dense fruit core that runs from start to finish, but it is a little under the oak load at present. As the wood integrates this will be a prize at a relative bargain price. Also contains 5.3% Cabernet Franc, 4.7% Merlot and 0.1% Malbec. I like a guy who does his math.
