Can Sumoi is bringing back local varieties and sourcing all of their fruit from local growers in Spain. Montonega is a pink skinned grape native to Catalonia, and the region’s altitude and cool, limestone soils help the grapes retain their acidity, making them ideal for a sparkling wine. This Ancestral method wine shows pear, wet chalk, red apple that blend nicely with its brioche and white blossom. Priced in the mid-$30 range, this wine performs very well.
