Cantine Colosi, Rosso Terre Siciliane IGP (Sicily, Italy) 2022 ($14)

This big, generous red over-delivers at this price point. Founded in 1987, the winery has 24 acres planted on volcanic soils in the small island of Salina. This 2022 Rosso is made from 70% Syrah and 30% Nerello Mascalese, and is stainless steel fermented. It is then aged in large French oak casks for a year. Dark and brooding in the glass, it offers raspberry and strawberry with a touch of pepper. Big, round and concentrated on the palate with juicy fruit flavors, it is slightly tannic which is fitting for its style. Enjoy with pizza or your favorite pasta.
