Sometimes something way out of left field makes its way to my desk, which in this case counts as a perk of the job. A blend of Pinot Noir and Franconian Blue, which is a new varietal name for me – as is wine from Slovenia for that matter. A quick search shows it to be a synonym for Blaufrankisch, also known as Lemberger or Kekfrankos depending in where you find it. No matter – the result is a tasty fresh red with a Cru Beaujolais vibe that’s quite satisfying and ready to drink on pop and pour. You will be dancing in no time.
