Chappellet, Napa Valley (California) Merlot 2016

 This Merlot leans hard into the cherry side of the variety, with a layered bouquet moving from bright Bing notes to kirsch.  On the palate, the cherry comes off on the darker side, with rich oak spice and a supple tannin structure that extends the finish.  The oak is slightly forward now, but will integrate well with a couple years in the cellar.  Nicely done!
