Charles Joguet, Chinon (Loire Valley, France) 2010

Jun 12, 2013

By

This wine is from one of the standard-bearers of Chinon.  It is a racy and vibrant wine that has a core of red current, cherry, and blackberry fruit and a stony, granitic undertone.  Dried herbs, green tobacco, and black olive notes add complexity and depth to create a savory rather than fruity finish.  While charming now, this wine can be held for five years or more to develop even greater complexity.
