Charles Krug, Howell Mountain – Napa Valley (California) Cabernet Sauvignon “Family Reserve” 2021 ($150)

Unlike his brother Robert, the late Peter Mondavi showed considerable interest in Napa Valley’s mountain wines, including Howell Mountain. This Cabernet Sauvignon is quite good, with concentrated blackberry flavors. It is creamy in texture, with moderate dusty tannins and good depth of flavors. It does border on being sweet in its fruitiness, but doesn’t quite go over that edge.
