Château Belle-Vue, Bhamdoun – Mount Lebanon (Lebanon) 2012

By Miranda Franco

Much of Lebanon’s wine is produced in the Bekaa Valley.  Still, there is a growing number of wineries perched upon the mountains not far from Beirut, such as Château Belle-Vue in the Mount Lebanon village of Bhamdoun.  Château Belle-Vue’s 2012 La Renaissance, a blend of 60 percent Cabernet and 40 percent Merlot, will impress the most ardent Bordeaux lover with its full-bodied, lush, and expansive palate.  The Renaissance offers concentrated aromas and flavors of spiced plum, cherry, and blackcurrant infused with cocoa, crushed gravel, and baking spice.  It is plush, decadently textured, and a complete joy to drink.
