Château du Moulin-À-Vent, Moulin-à-Vent (Beaujolais, Burgundy, France) 2009

Oct 6, 2014

By Michael Apstein

Technically from Beaujolais, the wines from Moulin-à-Vent stand apart and have more in common with the rest of Burgundy because of the granitic soil of the appellation.  This is a broad shouldered robust Moulin-à-Vent, reflective of the warmth and ideal growing conditions of the vintage.   It’s a firm–almost chewy–wine with moderate, but polished, tannins that make it a terrific choice for a hearty fall meal as opposed to use as an aperitif.  Given its harmony, it will develop nicely in the cellar for five to ten years, like other fine Burgundies.
