Château Duhart-Milon was classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 classification of the Médoc and has a long history of quality wine production. As with many Bordeaux estates, it went through a difficult period in the early 20th century. World Wars, global depression, and multiple ownership changes caused a decline in wine quality until the Rothschild family purchased the property in 1962. In recent vintages the quality has been exceptional, showing the power and finesse of Pauillac wines. The 2021 vintage Duhart-Milon shows plush, pure blackcurrant, black cherry and plum fruits with hints of herbs, coffee, earth, vanilla and baking spices. On the palate, the wine has a silky texture and offers layers of pure black and red fruits plus herb, tobacco, spice, earth, and oak flavors. Enjoyable even now, this classic Pauillac will cellar well for another 15 to 20 years.
