Château Prieuré-Lichine, Margaux (Bordeaux, France) “Confidences de Prieuré-Lichine” 2018 ($43, Monsieur Touton Selection)

Confidences is Château Prieuré-Lichine’s second label, made with Margaux fruit and meant to drink earlier in the wine’s life than the estate’s Grand Vin. The 2019 vintage is drinking smoothly with candied red licorice undertones against classic black plum, violet, black currant, vanilla, and cedar notes. Like many “second wines”, this outperforms its price point and does not have the tightness found in their flagship bottling. Enjoy now through 2027.
