Cono Sur, Casablanca Valley (Chile) Pinot Noir 2012

Aug 13, 2013

By Michael Apstein

Despite coming from the Casablanca Valley, a cool coastal area of Chile where you’d expect more delicacy in Pinot Noir, this one is a riper, more intensely styled wine with hints of bacon fat.  Tannins are similarly ripe and supple, which means it’s a good choice for current drinking.  It’s a stunning value, since it’s so difficult to find good Pinot Noir less than $20 a bottle.
