The 2016 Coto de Imaz Gran Riserva has a very dark, dense, ruby color and aromas and flavors of blackberry, black cherry with dusty mineral notes. It is made of Tempranillo with a bit of Graciano fermented in stainless steel. It was aged 24 months in American and French oak barrels followed by a minimum of 36 months in the bottle. The winery was recently granted the “Winery for Climate Protection” certification by the Spanish Wine Federation (Federación Española del Vino – FEV) the first and only specific certification of environmental sustainability for the wine sector and an international benchmark in winemaking and the environment for seeking out solutions and best practices for wineries.
