DeLille Cellars is easily one of the top producers in Washington State and their wines are a favorite in my book. Their Chaleur Blanc is a classic Bordeaux blend of Sauvignon Blanc (67%) and Sémillon (33%). The Washington sun ripens the fruit well past anything from Bordeaux with tropical papaya, green mango, and starfruit notes. DeLille uses French oak and lees aging to add complexity, giving the wine a round creamy flavor that compliments the fruit nicely. While I have aged several bottles, this wine is enjoyable and accessible in its youth.
