This is indisputably excellent Syrah that really recalls the Northern Rhône more than renditions of this variety from anywhere in the New World. It shows nice richness and depth of flavor, but really just medium body, and the oak is very wisely proportioned to the wine’s weight, lending spice and structure without distracting from the beautifully fresh fruit flavors. Lovely perfume (recalling violets) shows through the woody aromas, and the overall impression is one of purity and stylishness along with good complexity.
