Domaine Anderson,Anderson Valley (Mendocino County, California) Walraven Vineyard Chardonnay 2020 ($50)

I don’t get to see much older Chardonnay at my desk unless it has been made older under my own care, and the domestic propensity to “pop and pour” bottles like this make me think that we all might be missing out on something worthwhile. Here, an attractive fennel note rides on top of apple, pear and orange aromas, and they translate to palate flavors in linear fashion, finishing long with full integration. It is a later release, yes, but you will find it was worth the wait.
