Established in 1974, Domaine de la Pâturie is a 19-hectare vineyard planted on south-east facing hillsides in Jura, France. Their Par Amour – “Out of Love” – Pinot Noir is light and earthy with flavors resembling Thanksgiving canned cranberries and mossy, wet stone, underbrush notes. Located in Franche-Comté, Domaine de la Pâturie embodies many of the sustainable practices common in the broader Jura region, including hand harvesting of the grapes and indigenous yeast use. After harvest, Par Amour’s Pinot Noir is fermented and aged in temperature-controlled concrete, which preserves the wine’s natural Pinot Noir flavor profile. With a retail price under $35, this is a great addition to any wine list that is looking for a reasonably priced Pinot Noir with a profile more austere than traditional domestic offerings.
