Domaine des Ouled Thaleb teams up with Northern Rhône savant Alain Graillot to make this Moroccan Syrah. Morocco’s Atlantic influence keeps evening temperatures relatively cool, which helps the vines retain acidity throughout the hot growing season. The wine is lighter in body but has structured tannins and acidity to stand up to food. Dark fruit shows both fresh and dried notes with a strong earthy influence ranging from pencil shavings to leather. Unfortunately, Alain Graillot left us in 2022, but I hope head winemaker Stephanie Marriot continues to weave his influence into future blends.
