Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur, Grand Cru Clos Vougeot (Burgundy, France) 2010

Dec 11, 2012

By

This monopole opposite Musigny (hence the name) is within the much-debated Clos Vougeot Grand Cru. The appellation promotes discussion of the lower versus upper sections and their relative quality. The upper section, where the Musigni parcel is located, is considered superior. This heritage is evident in the quality of this wine. The 2010 reflects the vintage and provides “equal, but different” comparisons to 2009. The nose has woodsmoke and roasted meat from new oak barrels. Underneath are blackberry, cherry, and leather notes. The palate has ripe red and black berry fruit, rich coffee notes, and plenty of stuffing. The wine is more restrained than the 2009, but equally tasty. Give this wine some time in the bottle to integrate the oak.
