Donnafugata is a winery in Marsala, Italy, that was created by Giacomo and Gabriella Rallo, where the family has been making wines in Sicily since 1851. Today they have five wine estates in different parts of Sicily, including Pantelleria, a volcanic island in the Mediterranean Sea which was declared a UNESCO Heritage Site in 2014 for, “The traditional practice of cultivating head-trained bush vines.” Here they grow very ripe white Zibibo grapes, which are dried on straw mats in the sun to concentrate the flavors and sweetness of this golden amber wine, which is beautifully balanced, seductive, and sweet with delicate honied dried apricot aromas and flavors, smooth as silk in the mouth. Serve slightly chilled. Sold in a 375ml bottle.
