This reserve offering shows lively oak influence and plenty of tropical fruit accented by soft toast notes. Despite these traits that may lead you to expect a heavy wine, it stays zippy and bright in body and weight. It works well served on the colder side and shows even more facets as it warms in the glass. It is a combination of depth and verve that is difficult to achieve – very food friendly and promises to be long lived. Donum doesn’t consider Chardonnay to be their best variety, but I am on board with this wine right out of the gate.
