Dry Creek Valley is best known for Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel, especially Zins from old vines. The age of the vines for this berry-rich Zin average 85 years and yield less than 2 tons per acre, surely something that will not gladden the heart of the number cruncher. The wine shows a very deep ruby color, subtle berry jam aromas with spicy back notes, likely from the 18 months in French, American and Hungarian oak. It’s big and fruity with up-front firm tannins, 14.4% alcohol, peppery notes and a long finish. Give this wine more time!
