Israeli wines have received international recognition over the last several years. This 2012 Petit Syrah (that’s how the winery spells it — not Petite Sirah) makes it easy to understand why. This sophisticated wine opens with intense aromatics of boysenberry, plum, and violet. The palate offers a spice-laden texture rich with blackberry, coffee, black pepper, chocolate, and cedar. It’s full-bodied and full throttle on the palate. With all the dark concentration, there is still a softness thanks to the supple tannins.
