This excellent wine is the Tannat to buy from Filgueira amont the current releases, clearly outshining the 2011 “Classic” and the 2009 “Reserva.” Six months of American and French oak led appealing aromatic accents and nice spice notes in the finish, but it is the dense, sweet blackberry fruit that is the real star of this show. Sweetness and purity are the predominant impressions from start to finish, and though this is already excellent, it will develop into an even better wine over the course of the next three or four years.
