Fleurie is often thought to be one of the more delicate of the Beaujolais Crus, but this 2010 Fleurie from Duboeuf is no shrinking violet. From the deep ruby color, forward nose with dark fruits and a leafy note, to the bright fruit flavors, firm tannins, 13.5% alcohol and a long finish showing black cherry, this is a Cru of substance and potential. It could be the high quality of the 2010 vintage in Beaujolais, but this strikes me as an atypical Fleurie.
