Tavel was my introduction to Rosé many years ago and this wine from Guillaume Gonnet reminds me of why I fell in love with it and why it should be on my dinner table more often. It comes from the Rhone Valley, made from 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Cinsault, the classic grape varieties of the region. A brilliant dark, rose-red color, it boasts intense flavors of black cherry, strawberry and red plum flavors with savory, mineral highlights wrapped in a linear structure. This is a wine meant for the table. The bird on all their wine labels is a robin, a regular visitor to their organically farmed vineyards.
