Everyone is talking about English sparkling wine, and rightly so. In fact, I’ll be talking about it in my next column. The UK’s young wine industry has been gaining prestige, and over the past several years, English sparkling wine has dominated Champagne in blind tastings. A noteworthy English sparkling wine producer currently exported to the U.S. is Gusbourne. The Gusbourne 2016 Brut Blanc de Blancs is creamy and elegant yet bright with minerality and remarkable acidity. The palate is richly textured with notes of apricot and mandarin with a hint of toasted brioche. This luscious Blanc de Blancs will shine with oysters.
