Harkham-Windarra, Hunter Valley (New South Wales, Australia) Shiraz 2012

Apr 17, 2013

By

Harkham-Windarra produces only kosher wine, making it the only kosher winery in Australia. In addition, this is a natural wine with no sulfur addition and no filtration. Aziza’s is named in tribute to Richard Harkham’s grandmother who made natural wine in Israel. The vineyard is located in the coolest portion of the Hunter Valley, allowing for grapes to achieve perfect ripeness while retaining acidity. The wine is dark, brooding and powerful. Roasted meat, bacon, black pepper, smoke, plum, blackberry, and raspberry are all hallmarks of Shiraz. This wine combines the prototypical flavors with the pretty fruit, depth, concentration, and elegance of the best Shiraz. Earthy notes show throughout. Aziza’s combines Old World style with New World fruit. Full-bodied and long, this wine is a value.
