This is a dry red from the upper reaches of the Tejo River Valley. It is dry and warm country and the wine shows the luscious ripeness derived from the climate. Blended from Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Syrah, Trincadeira, Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Franca, it is aged in French and American oak, it is a complex and satisfying red wine. At the nose, blackberry and blackcurrant fruits interplay with floral, anise, and baking spice hints. Though quite big and bold, it retains a wonderful, fresh-fruit purity and displays a lovely balance of fruit, floral and spice characteristics. Those who love the richness of New World wines will appreciate the combination of ripeness and refreshment displayed in the Esporão Reserva.
