Barbera is an Italian grape variety grown mostly in the northern Italy district of Piedmont. Italian immigrants brought it to the United States in the 1800s and it has been a key component in many California "field" blends. A few wineries make stand-alone Barbera and Imagery is as good as anyone with this difficult grape. The 2012 offers succulent blueberry fruit aroma, smooth tannins and good acid backbone.
