Beaujolais Nouveau Day (the third Thursday of November) has come and gone, but for more cerebral wines, look to Beaujolais Crus. This Régnié from Julien Sunier (a darling of the natural wine movement) is a revelation. A superb rendering of Gamay, it offers a breeze of dark raspberries and wild strawberries peppered with suggestions of crushed violets, rose petal, and light spice on the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, smooth, and soft with a slight crunch of tannin and acidity that provides an impressively long finish.
