The 2023 Ken Forrester Old-Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc is a new release of this delicious South African Chenin. The Forrester wine farm has winegrowing roots that stretch back to 1689 although the modern era began in 1993 with the Forresters’ purchase of a then-derelict estate. They have succeeded in revitalizing the property and now offer some of South Africa’s finest wines. The 2023 Forrester Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc is aged in oak and marries the rich old-vine fruit with the vanilla and caramel richness provided by the barrel. It has an exotic nose of pineapple, ripe pear, yellow apple, honey, vanilla, and citrus. On the palate, layers of pure pear, apple, citrus and tropical fruits are backed by subtle nuances of vanilla, caramel, and herbs. It is an absolutely delicious wine that is a great bargain.
